Fireman's Challenge 2009

Every Monday morning of the Shawville Fair, the fire departments in the county send teams to compete in the Fireman's Challenge. It's pretty fun to watch. My step-dad has competed in it for the last couple of years, and this year I managed to get some really great pictures. A team of young lads from our department won this year. They called themselves the Rookies, since most of them have only been on the department for no longer than a year. My step-dad was on the Old Farts' team, and they lost to the Rookies by about 10 seconds or so, so not too shabby.

Here's step-dad (right) before the relay. He had to drag 'Rescue Randy' - an orange jumpsuit filled with fire hose and sand, weighing in at 250 pounds. He did pretty good with those short legs of his :)
