When I was a little girl, and I would spend the night at my grandparents, I slept in a double bed with a white, wicker headboard. The pattern was one of those fancy peacock patterns, with swirls of wicker that I loved to trace with my fingertips. I was reading a blog post tonight about a woman picking out a bed for her young daughter, and the peacock headboard was one of her choices. It made me remember the feeling of sleeping in the bed with the sateen bedspread with yellow roses and blue ribbons. There were matching curtains. And I felt like a princess.
