With Unshakeable Persistence by Elizabeth McLachlan

This was such a fascinating read.  When I first decided I wanted to be a teacher, I was in grade four, reading Anne of Green Gables, dreaming of one room school houses.  This account of such teachers did wonders to that idyllic impression of early twentieth century teaching.  I loved reading the accounts of the men and women who are the real pioneers in the teaching world.
