I have to say that neither of these books really did it for me. I went two thirds into The White Queen before throwing it up against the wall. I really enjoyed Gregory's Tudor series, but the writing in this novel seemed really stale - very forced - and not the easy stories of her earlier novels. Those had such great flow. And I'm not completely finished with Ann-Marie MacDonald. I've ventured 200 pages into this behemoth, and I want to see it to completion because this is a rather seminal work of modern Canadian Literature, however, I'm having a hard time following her vision. I think I need to read it with the eyes of a student, rather than someone reading for pleasure. Keep ya posted!
