I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up this novel. I've read The English Patient, like I'm sure everyone on the planet has - and if you haven't you really should. I had forgotten Ondaatje's style, so it was a little getting used to. I did enjoy the historical aspect, but I didn't enjoy so much the bouncy plot. I think you have to be in a cerebral mindset to really enjoy Ondaatje, but like great Canlit, he should be enjoyed.
By the way, I'm 75% of the way to my goal of 20 Canadian books this year. I planned to double what I read last year, and maybe if I keep this up I'll be able to triple it! And I'm a little over halfway to my goal of 100 books for the year.
