Asking the Right Question

image on dreaming

I read a beautiful quote today by Reverend Jackie Holland, a minister in Boise, Idaho.  She preached her  recent Sunday sermon about how she had visited with several parishioners who were making end of life decisions.  Something that one woman asked the reverend was: "I wonder how I shall be remembered?"  Jackie continued to preach that the question of 'what shall I be remembered for' isn't something we should be asking at the eve of our lives, but rather right now:

"When we know how we want to be remembered,
then we find our purpose and passion in life,
and there's the miracle."

I think these are beautiful words.
