The Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway

I polished off this novel this morning - what a story!  I was riveted.  I wish I could go about summarizing this book, but it's just too much to talk about.  The Siege of Sarajevo, where this story takes place, is something I didn't pay much attention to when it was happening - I was still quite young.  But reading this story, which is based on true events, was very unsettling.  At its core, it is a hopeful novel about the human spirit surviving amid terrible, unthinkable conditions.  But it still unsettles the reader that these conditions ever happened at all.
