No one paints childhood quite like American Illustrator, Jessie Willcox Smith. She was born and lived out her seventy-one years in Philadelphia, painting and contributing to books and magazines. Her most notable contributions were to Good Housekeeping, and Ladies Home Journal. She also famously illustrated Charles Kingsley's fairy tale, The Water Babies, which drawings now reside in the Library of Congress.
Although I didn't feature any of her illustrations from The Water Babies here, I do want to include the link which has copies of the illustrations online. They're just lovely - like everything else she has done.
