La Lorona Redux

The painting on the left was one I did maybe two years ago.  I showed it to an art instructor, who specialized in pastel, to get a critique, and she tore it apart.  There were problems with the proportions of the body and many problems with the execution of the soft pastel technique.

Between the paintings on the left and right, I took courses in pastel and life drawing.  And I had a great deal of practice.  I always loved the concept of the painting, so I redid it.

The painting on the right was exhibited at my art show, and everyone loved it.  I'm pleased to say that it did not sell, and it still resides with me.  I think I love it too much to let it go!
